New TV League Announced

Bowls New Zealand are excited to announce our new televised league, Bowls5.

Bowls5 is a high level invitational singles league being produced by Bowls New Zealand, and broadcast on Sky Sport NZ and the Bowls New Zealand YouTube Channel every Tuesday and Wednesday night from 6.30pm-9.00pm NZT over a four week period from the 17th of September through to the 9th of October.

World class players will compete against each other each week in high octane, five end games of singles.

We have invited six of the best bowlers in the World and there is an international flavour to this event, with players who represent Northern Ireland and Canada joining four New Zealanders. Three players are domiciled in Australia, and three in New Zealand.

Between them they have accrued a staggering 33 Medals at Commonwealth Games and World Championship events.

Three of the six players have won the World Championship Singles, and five of the six players have won their National Singles Championship.

The players are:

  • Gary Kelly (Northern Ireland),
  • Ryan Bester (Canada),
  • Shannon McIlroy (New Zealand),
  • Katelyn Inch (New Zealand),
  • Selina Goddard (New Zealand)
  • Tayla Bruce (New Zealand)

The players will contest a double round robin over the course of the series, with their overall seedings deciding where they sit on the ''finals night''- when the inaugural Bowls5 winner will be crowned.

We can't wait!
