The 2024 NZOC General Assembly was held on Wednesday 8 May at the Royal Akarana Yacht Club, Auckland. It was at this meeting that Bowls New Zealand's Head Coach and New Zealand Blackjack #78 was presented with the NZOC Merit Award for services to the Olympic Movement and Commonwealth Sport in New Zealand.

A Commonwealth Games (athlete 1994, bronze medallist 2002) and World Championships (gold medallist 2016) bowler, Mike began his contribution to the NZOC through the Athletes' Commission 1996-2008, the NZOC Board 2003-2009 and is currently an NZOC Selector, a role he took on in 2013.
