Bowls New Zealand is pleased that Bowls and Para Bowls will be part of the programme for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, known as Glasgow2026. This iteration of the Games will introduce flexible formats and facilities, marking a significant shift from previous events. The Games will take place in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August 2026, exactly 12 years after the Commonwealth Games were last held in the same city.
CEO of Bowls New Zealand, Mark Cameron, expressed his enthusiasm: “Bowls has been a part of every Commonwealth Games since its inception, with just one exception. This inclusion is a testament to the work of World Bowls and the support offered by the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF).”
National Head Coach Mike Kernaghan echoed this sentiment, stating, “We have eagerly awaited this decision. This confirmation provides our athletes with clarity regarding the next three pinnacle events, giving them a prime opportunity to showcase their skills on an international stage.”
With a strong track record of medal successes at recent major events, Bowls New Zealand looks forward to building on that success as they prepare for Glasgow2026.
