BRUCE AND DARBY TO REPRESENT NEW ZEALAND AT WORLD INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Bowls New Zealand is proud to announce the selection of South Island stars Tayla Bruce and Keanu Darby to represent New Zealand at the World Indoor Championships in April 2025.

The tournament, which will take place in Aberdeen, Scotland, will see Bruce and Darby compete in the Singles and Mixed Pairs events against a field of elite international players, including Kelsey Cottrell (Australia), Stewart Anderson (Scotland), and defending champions Nor Farah Ain Binti Abdullah (Malaysia) and Jason Greenslade (Guernsey).

Tayla Bruce, who gained valuable experience at the 2024 World Indoor Championships alongside Shannon McIlroy in Guernsey, will return for another shot at the prestigious title. Although she did not stand on the podium last year, Bruce is confident the experience on the indoor surface will prove beneficial as she looks to take on some of the best in the game.

“I’m incredibly proud to have the opportunity to represent New Zealand once again at the World Indoor Championships in Aberdeen,” Bruce said. “It’s a highly competitive event with some of the world’s best bowlers, and I’m excited to take on this challenge alongside my good friend and teammate, Keanu.”

Keanu Darby, who made his debut for the Blackjacks earlier this month at the Trans-Tasman series and finished as runner-up at the 2025 National Singles, is no stranger to high-stakes competition. Darby is excited for the opportunity to compete on the world stage and partner with Bruce in the Mixed Pairs event.

“I’m truly honoured and excited to have been selected to represent New Zealand at the World Indoor Championships,” Darby said. “This is a fantastic opportunity, and I’m looking forward to teaming up with Tayla again. I’m committed to giving my all, and I hope to make my family, friends, and country proud.”

The World Indoor Championships will be held from 20-25 April 2025 in Aberdeen, Scotland.
