South Otago Community Visits

Bowls New Zealand Community Manager, Kevin Smith, has the pleasure of supporting every bowling club in the South Island. This week, it has been visits to some clubs in the South Otago Centre.

It was very timely to visit the Thursday afternoon men’s inter club at the South Otago Town and Country Club Inc. Each club enters a four for a full field every week. Today, the Kaka Point Club was one player short so Kevin had fun becoming a honorary Club member for half a game. It was a great way to meet some wonderful players whose first rules are fun and friendship.

The other highlight of the day was to meet the “three wise men “ from the Owaka Bowling Club. Two weeks ago, Owaka celebrated its centenary with a tournament. At that event, Bruce Wilson, (self appointed Mayor of Owaka), Bryan Price and Alan Burgess were all awarded Life Membership of the club. Congratulations to them all and thanks for their service to our great game.
