Rangatahi Bowls Hub

Information about Youth bowls and programmes

Our aim is to be the most inclusive sport for all Rangatahi and Tamariki in New Zealand.  We will offer safe places for everyone no matter age, ethnicity, or capability be it financial, mental or physical difficulties.

We are working to increase participation from schools with affiliated local clubs providing facilities. By 2026, we would love to see 10,000 participants from local communities that may not be able to participate in other higher profile sports for whatever reason through their introduction to the game of lawn bowls and all its possibilities.

Watch this space for further roll-out information of our "Have a Go" programme which is designed to attract and retain Rangatahi and Tamariki across Aotearoa!

What is key is that the sessions for school-aged children are all free of charge. Yes, that's right - no entry fees, no membership fees, no equipment fees (clubs provide the equipment) - all free of charge.  At present there are a number of clubs that are operating this programme, however, it is a work in progress so it is not necessarily offered at every bowling club across the country. We will be looking to expand this and employ dedicated people to deliver this programme in a staggered approach over the next few years.

As mentioned, the mission is about a total focus on youth and their inclusivity in our game.
