Jan has played bowls for many years.
Over that time, she has been involved in governance at both a club and Centre level.
Experience she will be able to utilise in her role as Vice President of Bowl New Zealand.
Jan has always belonged to small clubs and believes that size is not important in how it contributes to the local community.
She believes that the increased importance of participation is an emphasis on many sports today and is certainly relevant to the sport of lawn bowls.
She believes that clubs who are now thinking outside the traditional membership and competitions to the benefit of community involvement are proving very successful.
Jan taught Physical Education at local high schools for thirty five years and coached /managed a wide variety of school sports.
As well as playing bowls Jan enjoys Tai Chi, chairs Keep Dunedin Beautiful, is a Port Chalmers cruise ship volunteer and a member of the Rotary Club of Dunedin.
