The Blackjacks men have taken an unassailable four-nil lead in the first Trans Tasman test at Club Helensvale!
World champion Shannon McIlroy raced to a 21-9 win over Commonwealth Games gold medallist Aaron Wilson in the singles before Ali Forsyth (skip), Gary Lawson, Mike Kernaghan and Chris Le Lievre beat Australia 14-13 in a thrilling fours match.
The women’s test is level at two-all, with New Zealand leading on shot differential. Jo Edwards was beaten 21-19 by Kelsey Cottrell in the women’s singles, before Katelyn Inch (skip), Val Smith, Selina Smith and Wendy Jensen beat Australia 15-13 after scoring a two on the final end. The third and final session is scheduled to start at 6pm NZT.

Katelyn Inch (skip), Val Smith and Wendy Jensen won 24-9 in the women’s triples, but Jo Edwards (skip) and Selina Smith were beaten 22-12 in the pairs.
