MICHAEL JOHNSON
Michael started umpiring in 2005 at the age of 14. A year later he passed the International Exam which was administered by Bowls New Zealand at the time. In 2009, Michael became an International Technical Official.
Michael really enjoys umpiring and has officiated at a range of club, centre, national and international events. His career highlights to date include umpiring at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, training and mentoring umpires in Samoa for the Pacific Games and Youth Commonwealth Games, and being involved with the International Event Series in Christchurch, finishing with the World Bowls Championships in 2016.
Alongside his umpiring out on the green, Michael is also a member of the Wellington Umpires Executive Committee and has previously tutored new umpires.
